"The Old Summer Palace represents the last peak of ancient Chinese architecture, and no one is able to duplicate its original style today," said the deputy dean of the School of Architecture, at Tsinghua University, in an interview on China National Radio in late April.
四月清华大学建筑学院的副院长在接受中央人民广播之声的采访时说：“圆明园代表了中国古代建筑的最后一个高峰，如今没有人能够复原它的原貌。”
"The Old Summer Palace is important for today's people as a record of foreign invasion. However, it lost the meaning as a garden the moment it was burned, and that meaning is irretrievable."
