If there is one thing people want at Christmas, it’s the securityof having their family around them and a home that is safe.

　　如果有一件事是所有人的圣诞节都想要的，那就是有家人陪伴，平安地度过节日。

　　But not everyone has that. Millions of families are spending thiswinter in refugee camps or makeshift shelters across Syria andthe Middle East, driven from their homes by Daesh and Assad.

　　但是，并不是所有人拥有这份平安。在中东和叙利亚，有成千上万的家庭因为极端恐怖组织‘伊斯兰国’(Daesh and Assad，即IS)的驱逐，将在难民营或简易过渡房里度过这个冬天。

　　Christians from Africa to Asia will go to church on Christmas morning full of joy, but many in fearof persecution. Throughout the United Kingdom, some will spend the festive period ill, homelessor alone.

　　从非洲到亚洲的基督徒们仍会在圣诞节的早晨带着愉悦去教堂，但也带着害怕被迫害的恐惧。在英国，也有人将带着病痛，无家可归或孤单地度过节日。

　　We must pay tribute to the thousands of doctors, nurses, carers and volunteers who give up theirChristmas to help the vulnerable – and to those who are spending this season even further fromhome.

　　我们要向医生、护士、看护者、志愿者和战士致敬，他们放弃了圣诞节与家人的团聚，为那些饱受苦难的人送去帮助。同时，我们也要赞美那些在节日里远离家乡的人。

　　Right now, our brave armed forces are doing their duty, around the world: in the skies of Iraq andSyria, targeting the terrorists that threaten those countries and our security at home; on the seasof the Mediterranean, saving those who attempt the perilous crossing to Europe; and on theground, helping to bring stability to countries from Afghanistan to South Sudan.

　　就在现在，我们英勇的军队正在世界各地履行职责。为了保卫家园和其他国家的安全，他们在伊拉克和叙利亚打击恐怖分子;在地中海，解救那些试图冒险穿过欧洲的人;还有人在陆地上，帮助从阿富汗到南苏丹等国家维护社会稳定。因为他们愿意舍身于危险，所以我们才得以平安生活。

　　It is because they face danger that we have peace. And that is what we mark today as wecelebrate the birth of God’s only son, Jesus Christ – the Prince of Peace.

　　和平正是今天纪念的事情，在圣诞节——上帝之子、平安之主耶稣的生日。

　　As a Christian country, we must remember what his birth represents: peace, mercy, goodwill and,above all, hope.

　　作为一个基督教国家，我们必须牢记耶稣生日的意义：平安，仁慈，友好，以及希望。

　　I believe that we should also reflect on the fact that it is because of these important religious rootsand Christian values that Britain has been such a successful home to people of all faiths and none.

　　我相信，正因为这些无比重要的宗教根源和基督教的价值观，才让英国成为人们安居乐业的家园——无论人们有没有信仰。

　　So, as we come together with our loved ones, in safety and security, let’s think of those whocannot do the same.

　　因此，当和所爱的人平安相聚时，也请想到那些无法相聚的人。

　　Let’s give thanks to those who are helping the vulnerable at home and protecting our freedomsabroad.

　　向在英国帮助弱势群体的人们，以及在外保卫自由的战士们表示感谢。

　　And let me wish everyone in Britain and around the world a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

　　祝福英国及全世界人们有个快乐平安的圣诞节。
