shot (at something/ at doing something)
The act of trying to do or achieve something. “尝试”，例如：
I've never produced a play before but I'll have a shot at it.
I'm willing to give it a shot.
Just give it your best shot (= try as hard as you can) and you'll be fine.
self-conscious about something
Nervous or embarrassed about your appearance or what other people think of you. “难为情的，不自在的”例如：
He's always been self-conscious about being so short.
She was a shy, self-conscious girl.
call somebody names
To use insulting words about somebody. “骂人，出口伤人”
hold your head high | hold up your head
To be proud of or not feel ashamed about something that you have done. 例如：
She managed to hold her head high and ignore what people were saying.
