  IMDb(Internet Movie Database)上Netflix给出的storyline是这样的:

“Hopeless romantic but eternally single LA journalist Natalie (Nina Dobrev) thinks things are beginning to look up when she swipes right on a dreamy guy from the East Coast, Tag (Darren Barnet). Taking a leap of faith, she jumps on a flight to surprise her crush for the holidays, only to discover that she’s been catfished by Tag’s childhood friend who is equally unlucky in love, Josh (Jimmy O. Yang). This lighthearted romantic comedy chronicles her attempt to reel in love.”

catfish是一种长着类似猫咪胡须的大鱼,但这里明显是动词,表示to create a false identity on social media in order to lure someone into establishing a relationship.

lighthearted是整部电影的基调,intended to be amusing or easily enjoyable rather than too serious.

“Sure, dating has never really been easy, but modern dating online is even harder.” I keep thinking my perfect match has to be out there, just one click away. Someone kind, and honest, and ideally… someone that doesn’t already have a wife. Am I right? Despite my gut telling me that maybe I should just give up altogether, along comes Ted, a Libra who likes puppies and offers to take me on a sunset sail, until he ghosts me. But on a positive note, I’ve turned my horrible love life into a successful online writing career. For years, I’ve been chronicling my disaster dates under the pseudonym “Always a Bridesmaid”. And people seem to love that I can’t find love. But honestly, I’m not sure how much longer I can do this. How is it that everyone has found the one, and I haven’t? Either I’m the unluckiest woman in the world, or my picker is broken.”

gut = [C, usually pl.] the place where your natural feelings that make you react in a particular way are thought to be. 例如:

I had a feeling in my guts that something was wrong.

altogether = (used to emphasize something) completely; in every way. 例如:

The train went slower and slower until it stopped altogether.

come along = to arrive; to appear. 例如:

When the right opportunity comes along, she’ll take it.

ghost = to end a romantic relationship with (a person) by not responding to his or her attempts to communicate. 例如:

I can’t believe he ghosted me!

pseudonym = a name used by sb, especially a writer, instead of their real name. 例如:

  She writes under a pseudonym.

always a bridesmaid = always the bridesmaid, never the bride = If someone is always the bridesmaid, they are always the second most successful or important person in a situation and never the most successful or important. 例如:

When will I get a promotion? I'm so sick of being always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

The film’s title is a combination of Josh’s favorite Christmas movie Love Actually (2003) and Natalie’s favorite Christmas movie Die Hard (1988).

While Josh is teaching Natalie to climb at All Things Outdoors, he provides the insightful quote “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together” by Van Gogh. This same quote can be seen on the display behind him as he begins to spot Natalie.

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”

为了不给大家太多的剧透(spoiler = information that you are given about what is going to happen in a film/ movie, television series etc. before it is shown to the public),这里就不多介绍剧情啦,感兴趣的小伙伴们准备好爆米花,快去欣赏一下吧!
