  long-lost

That you have not seen or received any news of for a long time. 这个形容词只用在名词前,例如:

  a long-lost friend

  flatter yourself (that…)

To choose to believe something good about yourself and your abilities, especially when other people do not share this opinion. 例如:

‘How will you manage without me?’ ‘Don't flatter yourself.’

  run out on somebody

To leave somebody that you live with, especially when they need your help. 相当于“抛弃”,跟walk out on somebody很像,它的英文解释是to suddenly leave somebody that you are having a relationship with and that you have a responsibility for. 例如:

How could she walk out on her kids?
