parole
Permission that is given to a prisoner to leave prison before the end of their sentence on condition that they behave well. 也就是我们经常会在律政片里听到的“假释”。例如：
She was released on parole.
pass up
就是“放弃，拒绝”(If you pass up a chance or an opportunity, you do not take advantage of it.)。例如：
The official urged the government not to pass up the opportunity that has now presented itself.
pen
这个词我们通常会用它的名词形式，不过比较正式的用法的时候，它还可以作为动词表示write，例如：
He penned a letter to the local paper.
