up against something
这个短语是facing problems or opposition的意思。如果我们说She’s really up against it. 就等于She’s in a difficult situation. 我们再举个例子：
Teachers are up against some major problems these days.
track something/somebody down
这个表达有种“无论你在哪我也会把你找出来”的感觉(To find something or somebody after searching in several different places)。比如：
The police have so far failed to track down the attacker.
buy time
就是做某事来拖延时间(to do something in order to delay an event, a decision, etc.) 比如：
The negotiators kept the gunman talking to buy time for the hostages.
