Mary Donaldson once accepted a position at an international advertising agency in Melbourne. Her life was to change forever when she met a young man who introduced himself as "Fred" at a Sydney hotel pub in October 2000.

"The first time we met we shook hands," she recalled. "I didn't know he was the prince of Denmark. Over the next three years the two were often seen together in both Australia and Denmark.
