　　It's been a long road to recovery for Avril Lavigne following her Lyme disease diagnosis last year, and the pop star still gets emotional while talking about her ongoing battle with the illness.

　　The singer – who first shared her struggles with the debilitating disease in an exclusive PEOPLE cover story in April – opened up to Good Morning America's Jesse Palmer Monday, breaking down in tears while recalling doctors' misdiagnoses.

　　"I was in Los Angeles, and it was literally the worst time of my life," Lavigne, 30, said about her frustrating medical appointments. "I was seeing every specialist, and literally like the top doctors ... It was so stupid. They would pull up their computer and be like, 'Chronic fatigue syndrome' or 'Why don't you try to get out of bed, Avril, and just go play the piano?' or 'Are you depressed?' "

　　The singer is still going through treatment and expects to make a full recovery. "I'm doing a lot better; seeing a lot of progress, I'm just really grateful to know that I will make a 100 percent recovery."
