Who says Santa Claus has to be white? Until now, your iPhone's emoji keyboard did.

　　谁说圣诞老人一定要是白脸的?现在，你的苹果表情键盘可以实现这一转变。

　　A new beta release of iOS 8.3, currently available only to software developers, fixes that. It includes the option to change an emoji's skin color, meaning you can finally choose something beyond the pale pink hands and white boys and girls currently available. The human-looking emoji -- including the one for Kris Kringle -- will now have six different skin tones to pick from.

　　What’s more, same-sex families will soon have a place on the emoji keyboard.

　　Some have lauded the move for pushing emoji beyond certain stereotypes, like thedefault image of a brown man in a turban.

　　The new beta version of iOS 8.3 includes an array of diverse emojis, not only characters with different skin colors, but also different family makeups. Same-sex parents are included in the publicly unreleased version. There are families with two moms and families with two dads.

　　iOS8.3测试版包含了多元化的人物表情，不仅仅是不同肤色的人脸，还有不同的家庭成员。在还未发布的公众版本中，同性恋者表情也在其中。一个家庭里有两个妈妈或者两个爸爸。

　　An Apple spokeswoman told PC Magazine: "Apple supports and cares deeply about diversity, and is working with The Unicode Consortium to update the standard so that it better represents diversity for all of us."

　　Apple introduced gay emojis to its operating system back in 2012.
