A painting created by renowned Chinese artist Ren Bonian in 1899, which had an estimated value of 250,000 U.S. dollar, was destroyed by a kid during its pre-exhibition for an auction in Hong Kong last Sunday. Half of the damaged painting, which was one of the four paintings that formed into an art piece for the auction, was torn down by the kid. The UK auctioneer Christie's said they had withdrawn the painting from the auction and was currently seeking further compensation from the insurance company. The auction, which featured Chinese modern paintings and calligraphy, was initially scheduled to open on Tuesday. The incident has raised awareness on social media as many netizens began to debate whether the kid’s guardian should pay damages.
