China Media Group (CMG) announced on Friday it will set up the country’s first 5G-based new media platform with support from China’s three telecom giants – China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile – and Huawei Technology.

　　中国传媒集团(CMG)周五宣布，将在中国三大电信巨头-中国电信、中国联通和中国移动-以及华为技术的支持下，建立中国首个基于5G的新媒体平台。

　　According to the agreement, a 5G laboratory will be created to accelerate the application of 4K Ultra HD video and push innovation in other video-based products.

　　根据协议，CMG将创建一个5G实验室，以加速4K超高清视频的应用，并推动其它基于视频的产品的创新。

　　The lab will also build an end-to-end testing system in the ten cities hosting 5G pilot programs to help verify technology’s video transmission capabilities. Research in the lab will provide insights that will set the industry standard for live signals, file transfer specifications and content-producing procedures.

　　为了帮助验证该技术的视频传输能力，该实验室还将在10个主办5G试点项目的城市建立端到端测试系统。实验室的研究将提供信息分析，为实时信号、文件传输规范和内容制作程序，设定行业标准。

　　All tests are expected to be completed by the next Two Sessions, which will take place in March 2019.

　　Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group, said at Friday’s signing ceremony that CMG is going to roll out a "4K+5G+AI" strategy by taking advantage of big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He also said the group will conduct more research on smart applications, and try to expand the influence of the national media platform.
