The Internet, it turns out, is up to its armpits with women who dye theirs. Miley Cyrus displayed her newly pink underarms in a photo she posted to Instagram on May 1, drawing more than 396,000 likes and more than 30,000 comments. On Instagram, more than 700 photos of women (and a handful of men) have been posted with the hashtag #dyedpits.

　　Ms. Hunt, 31, a founder of Free Your Pits, a website that celebrates growing and dyeing. “Our goal is to use this demonstration of personal choice and expression to help broaden and challenge the standard of ‘beauty’ in a society that already places way too many harmful standards on women.”

　　CNN also had several reports titled Chinese feminists flaunt natural armpits, Armpit hair a growing trend for women and so forth, featured armpits photo campaign ran on Weibo, China.

　　No matter it is showing or dyeing armpit hair, mass media and people tend to see it as the symbol of feminism. It is true that feminists, home and abroad, initiate activities like this to promote their values (female should take control of their body, societal standards should be broaden etc.). But girls who showed their armpit photos may have a point: one or two decade ago, women kept their armpit hair and no guys seemed have complaint about it. Why is it so different now? So armpit or not, it is also a question of value/fashion revival.

　　无论是展现腋毛还是染腋毛，大众传媒和人们往往将其看成是女权主义的标志。确实国内国外的女权主义者发起这些活动来宣扬他们的价值观(女性应当掌控自己的身体，社会标准应当放款等等)。但是秀腋毛的女生也有他们的道理：一二十年前，女性可以留腋毛，而且也不见得男性反对。现在为什么不一样了呢?所以到底留不留腋毛，也是时尚是否回归的问题吧。

　　pepper with： 布满，充满，原文中即指不停地发问。不停地发问还有一个词，bombard，原指受炮弹的轰炸，引申义即问题、批评、抱怨等等的轰炸： Right after the premiere, the actor was bombarded with a number of questions.

　　shellshock： 又是一个战争中诞生的词。原指炮弹休克，也可用作指非常震惊。

　　turquoise：青绿色，如文中第一张图女孩腋毛的颜色。

　　an act of defiance 反抗之举

　　fly in the face of：公开表达与...的不同意见(往往是与传统、权威不同)

　　flaunt：炫耀，如炫富，flaunt wealth。flaunt还有一个有趣的词组，flaunt oneself举止或打扮性感撩人。
