Details of Prince William's visit to Japan and China have been revealed, ahead of the start of his seven-day tour of the two countries.

The Duke of Cambridge -- traveling without wife Kate or son Prince George this trip -- will arrive in Japan on Thursday and then will head to China on March 1, before returning to the U.K. on March 4.

William's China schedule includes visiting the Forbidden City, meeting with a "Senior Chinese leader" in Beijing, giving a speech at a wildlife conservation conference and watching children learn to play soccer at a secondary school.

In Shanghai, the Duke will launch the three-day Great Festival of Creativity at the city's Long Museum next Monday.

While in Shanghai the Duke, who is president of Bafta, will use the opportunity to discuss the organisation's intentions to foster creative and cultural exchanges between British and Asian workers in the film, television and games industries.

William will also attend an event before the premiere of the Paddington movie in Shanghai, and is expected to meet the famous fictional bear.

The Duke is also hoping to see Asian elephants in the wild during his visit to China.

William - who has campaigned strongly to end the illegal trade in ivory and other endangered animal products - will travel to the Yunnan Province next Wednesday where 250 wild Asian elephants still roam free.

This will be the duke's first visit to both countries.
