Meet the animal lover who beat out hundreds of applicants for a $10-per-hour job of walking Henry the tortoise.

Henry’s owner Amanda Green, who lives in Harlem, has had the 17-pound African tortoise for a couple of years now – and he’s quite the social media star with thousands of followers on Instagram, where he is known as The Notortoise BIG.

Green took to Craigslist after feeling guilty that she was only able to take Henry for walks on the weekend.

So she placed an ad in March looking for someone – ‘no tortoise experience necessary’ - to take the 17-pound African tortoise on weekday walks to Central Park in the summer.

She expected a few responses, but received hundreds – not to mention a lot of media coverage – but it was Amalia McCallister who got the sweet summer gig.

Green, who writes for Refinery29, was looking an animal person with good people skills – as Henry attracts plenty of attention in the park.

She received close to 400 responses, from as far away as Australia, Green told CBS News.

McCallister, 24, who works at Petland Discounts, fit the bill.

Her job involves bundling Henry into his pet stroller, taking him the few blocks from Green’s home to Central Park, where he can roam free – and cleaning up after him.

She went for her second solo outing with Henry on Monday.

‘The way you can tell where’s a good spot for Henry is if there are weeds or dandelions,’ she told the New York Times. ‘Because there’s no pesticides there, so he can eat the grass.’

She added: ‘He also really loves to eat dandelions. It’s like a field full of French fries for him.’

As Green had warned, Henry attracts plenty of admirers, adults and children alike, in the park.

After a couple of hours in the park, it was time for Henry to go back into the stroller and be wheeled home.

McCallister adds that so far, she loves her new job.

‘I’d love to do more things like this, taking people’s weird pets out,’ she told the Times.
