这一季的《行尸走肉》，反复的探讨着一个辩题——杀还是不杀?是应该抢先射杀对方以确保自身生存，还是应该手下留情，并期待仁慈能带来善报?

　　Daryl (Norman Reedus) 总是以“不杀，便会被杀”的态度来面对“残忍还是仁慈”的心理斗争，但他有时也会心慈手软。回顾本季的前几集，他被三个逃离Wolves的人(或是其他什么人)抓住后，他成功逃脱并顺走了他们物资。但当他发现偷来的包里有一支胰岛素后，他便把包还给了他们。但炮灰们以偷走他的弩及摩托车扬长而去来回报他的善意。Daryl本可以杀死他们，但是他没有。他手下留情了。在这一集当中他意识到或许他不应仁慈。同样，炮灰们也没有对Daryl下杀手，然而或许他们也应该杀了他。

　　Daryl没能想到他善意的行动(或者说没有行动)适得其反。只能说，如果今后Daryl会杀掉每一个他碰到的对手以确保自身安全——就像第四季中的Carol一样，也是意料之中的发展。

　　A recurring theme on The Walking Dead this season has been the question of whether to kill. Is it better to shoot first and ensure survival through force, or show mercy and hope that mercy is shown to you in return?

　　Daryl (Norman Reedus) always talks in terms of "kill or be killed" on the murder/mercy spectrum, but he sometimes shows mercy. Remember earlier in the season when he got captured by the three fleeing Wolves (or whoever they were), and then stole their bag and escaped, only to return it when he realized the bag had a cooler full of insulin? His kindness was repaid by the survivors stealing his crossbow and motorcycle and leaving him in the woods. Daryl had a chance to kill them and he didn't take it. He showed mercy, and in this week's episode, he learns that maybe he shouldn't have. To be fair, they didn't kill him, either. But maybe they should have.

　　Daryl's actions (or lack thereof) backfire more than he could have ever imagined this week. Let's just say that it will be no surprise if Daryl goes full Season 4 Carol and kills everyone he meets from now on, just to be safe.
