　　The Game of Thrones season 6 premiere is two months away (from the time of writing this), and in the lead-up to the new season, most discussion among fans of the series has centered on which characters survived the season 5 finale, and which didn’t. After all, that finale left the fates of several characters ambiguous, while also leaving numerous others in intriguing places.

　　HBO’s marketing for Game of Thrones season 6 has further teased what lies ahead on the series, raising questions about whether certain characters (okay, one specific character) will soon join those people who have been killed or died in previous seasons of the TV show. Additional posters have now been unveiled for Game of Thrones, further playing at the mystery of who may join the next dead.

　　The following Game of Thrones season 6 posters were posted online through HBO’s official Twitter account for the series, along with a series of one-sheets for the individual characters. The faces on the posters – depicted as they would be in Braavos’ House of Blakc and White – include such mainstays as Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who have not yet died. However, also included are a couple of long-dead characters, including Cathryn Stark (Michelle Fairley) and Robb Stark (Richard Madden), both of whom perished back in Season 3’s Red Wedding. This same imagery was featured in the most recent Game of Thrones season 6 teaser, too.

　　The end of Game of Thrones Season 5 left many questions, some of which have since been answered. Is Jon Snow dead? (… Maybe?) Is Stannis ? (It looks that way.) Did Sansa and Theon Greyjoy survive their jump off the side of Winterfell? (Yup.) Can the Khaleesi make it back to Meereen, and on to Westeros (No idea.)? Adding to the intrigue, the series has caught up to George R.R. Martin’s published source material, so reading ahead is no longer an option.

　　The new season of Game of Thrones offers much to get excited about, even beyond the venture into territory uncharted by Martin. There will be battles. There will be huge moments. There will be introductions of new characters played by standout actors like Ian McShane and even though it looks like two more seasons are certain, there’s the prevailing sense that things are progressing towards an endgame.

　　Game of Thrones season 5 was (arguably) not the show’s best, and there was fan backlash on numerous fronts (and not only over the Sansa rape scene, either). But by all indications, season 6 is shaping up as something special.
