　　原来，要怪就怪HBO根据此书改编的电视剧《权力的游戏》的火爆。多亏了原著和电视剧的的粉丝们的大力支持，马丁得以周游世界，这是一个他延迟出书的原因之一。

　　在圣达菲独立电影节上(通过Indiewire)，他解释说，“不能怪我写不出来，要怪就怪事多分心。最近几年，我一直在忙的事都是个问题，因为这会形成干扰。”

　　因为原著和电视剧都很受欢迎，所以我得经常去做采访。我要经常出差，“他继续说。“就像我突然被邀请去南非或者迪拜旅行，谁能够拒绝免费的迪拜之旅呢?”

　　那为什么不在路上写呢?马丁说写书不是那么容易的。

　　“我旅行时写不出来。我在酒店房间里写不出来。我在飞机上也写不出来，”他承认。“我真的必须在我自己家里不受干扰时才能写的出来。”

　　据马丁说，他一直是这样。现在唯一的不同就是大家都在关注。

　　George RR Martin isn’t ready to show the world the next installment of his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series just yet, however he is offering an excuse as to what, exactly is holding up the long overdue novel.

　　It turns out the popularity of “Game of Thrones” — the HBO adaptation of the book series — is to blame. Thanks to the very supportive fanbase surrounding the books and movies, Martin has the opportunity to travel the world and it’s one he’s not going to pass on.

　　Speaking at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival (via IndieWire), he explains, “Writer’s block isn’t to blame here, it’s distraction. In recent years, all of the work I’ve been doing creates problems because it creates distraction.”

　　“Because the books and the show are so popular I have interviews to do constantly. I have travel plans constantly,” he continues. “It’s like suddenly I get invited to travel to South Africa or Dubai, and who’s passing up a free trip to Dubai?”

　　So why not write while he’s on the road? Martin says it just doesn’t work like that.“I don’t write when I travel.

　　I don’t write in hotel rooms. I don’t write on airplanes,” he admits. “I really have to be in my own house undisturbed to write.”

　　That’s always been the case, according to Martin. The only different now is everyone is paying attention.

　　“Through most of my life nobody did bother me, but now everyone bothers me every day.,” he claims.

　　“I have assistants and minions whose main job is to make sure people don’t bother me so I can actually get writing done.”

　　So next time you want to ask Martin what’s taking him so long to write a book, consider that the real reason may be everyone asking him what’s taking so long to write a book.

　　In the meantime, “Game of Thrones” Season 6 premieres in April on HBO.
