这是Scott Pilgrim(Cisco扮演者)在被问到“有同性恋关系出现吗?”
Warning: This recap for the “Legends of Yesterday” episode of Arrowcontains spoilers.
Not even time travel can keep Oliver from keeping dangerous secrets, it seems. This year’s Arrow/The Flash crossover wraps up with not one, buttwo climactic battles (thanks to the aforementioned time travel), and Oliver plans to spend more time in Central City, on account of the son there he never knew he had.
The Plot
Kendra’s memories are returning, and Teams Arrow and Flash convene in a farmhouse to plan Vandal Savage’s defeat. Carter teaches Kendra how to use rage to bring out her wings, while Oliver visits the mother of his son and asks Barry to do a paternity test. Malcolm Merlyn brokers a meeting between Savage and the two heroes, and a 24-hour ultimatum is given.
Felicity finds out Oliver tried to hide the paternity test from her and breaks up with him, and the confrontation between Green Arrow, Flash, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Savage ends with the entire city being destroyed. Barry goes back in time to try again. This time, Cisco teaches Kendra, Barry skips the test, and Oliver brings all of Team Arrow into the fight. Savage is killed, but Oliver still lies to Felicity about his son, and Merlyn collects Savage’s ashes for…?
Not Your Father’s Arrow… or Yours
The fandom for both Arrow and The Flash are probably pretty extensive, so there won’t be many complaints about this episode being too superheroey or fantastical. But this is about as far out as the show can go without becoming another show completely.
There are so many people talking over each other, it’s almost Gilmore Girls, and there’s so much mysticism, there was a slight possibility of the show turning into a Constantine reboot. The agonizing over Ollie’s secret son is vintage Arrow, but there are probably a few fans who felt this was overstuffed and will dread next year’s crossover, when there will probably be the cast of three series filling up the hour.
Oliver’s Son
For a moment there — when Oliver realizes that he has a second chance to correct the mistakes of the timeline where everybody dies — it almost seemed like he would man up and tell Felicity the truth. He owes her a lot more than he owes Sandra, and it’s not like Felicity’s the Jerry Springer I’m-gonna-rip-your-weave-out kind of girl who would tell Sandra she knows.
But, no. He plans to keep regular visits to Central City a secret from a super-science, I-have-access-to-every-surveillance-camera-in-the-state kind of girl. Bet that’s going to work out great.
The Good Kind of Sci-Fi
Science fiction is a genre where the author creates a hypothetical world and then shows how humans react. That is to say, it’s not about the silly lasers or the ludicrous time travel; it’s about how the characters react, and Arrow does not forget that.
What is most interesting about this episode is what it reveals about Oliver Queen’s character. Even when he gets a second chance, he can’t help himself from keeping secrets and putting his guilt-driven responsibility ahead of his happiness and the happiness of the ones he loves.
Evil Merlyn’s Back
Oh, John Barrowman, you almost had us. With the soulful eyes and the “I just want to be a good father” shtick. Okay, fine, you did have us. It seemed like you were thinking only of Thea’s safety, but instead, you were really there to ingratiate yourself to Vandal Savage. That charming smile always makes us forget that you’re still the head of a secret criminal organization of murderers and you tried to murder thousands with The Undertaking.
Inside Comics Moment
The boy’s name is Connor Hawke. In the comics, he grows up to be the second Green Arrow. If the show goes on long enough, do you think Arrowhas a second life in it when Stephen Amell decides to retire?
Quiverful of Thoughts
* Or maybe that grave from the beginning of the season is Connor’s. The producers promised the death would be of somebody important; do you think half a season is enough to make us mourn his passing?
* Even though it was obviously not permanent, it was still pretty creepy to see everybody disintegrated like that, no?
* Line of the night: “I don’t know if we’re at the L-bomb stage yet.” This is up there with Scott Pilgrim’s “Lesbian?” when it comes to dodging the dreaded L-word. Come on, Cisco! What does that 4,000-year old dude with abs carved out of the same stone as The Sphinx have that you don’t have? Oh, right. The abs carved out of the same stone as The Sphinx. Never mind.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
