“Our show is no different,” he explains. “That story is definitely not over.”

When last we saw the former pizza delivery guy, Glenn was falling off a dumpster into a sea of flesh-hungry walkers. As blood squirted everywhere and entrails were voraciously consumed, a tiny seed of doubt remained: Were those first bites of freshly-killed Nicholas (Michael Traynor) a mere appetizer to Glenn the main course? Or could he have somehow escaped?

Nicotero is quick to point out that he has received multiple notes from fans that he calls “I love your work but f**k you!” letters, and that he’s read all the fan attempts at possible extraction scenarios. He is also eager to shoot down one prominent theory.

“I’ve read a lot of the theories and they’re hilarious — but Nicholas running out of bullets is incorrect,” he explains. “They were claiming that they could hear an audible ‘click.’ But there was a beat that I don’t think ended up in the episode, [and was omitted] strictly for time where Glenn says to Nicholas, ‘You need to preserve your ammunition and count your bullets.”

“As the walkers were coming forward and Nicholas was shooting,” Nicotero explains. “He was counting his bullets and he counted down to one.”

So, although “Dead” fans can look forward to eventually revisiting what happened alongside that dumpster, Nicotero says in the meantime he’s happy to allow speculation to run wild.

“I think it’s fun to allow people to speculate on it,” he explains. “There will be some resolution to the debate. I can’t wait for that moment, because it’ll be very intriguing.”“我觉得让大家在这件事上去发挥自己想象一件有趣的事,”他说道。
