Game Of Thrones’ Actress Kerry Ingram Tweets Apology After Joking About Her Character’s Death

　　"Game of Thrones” actress Kerry Ingram was forced to apologize to her fans after many of them objected to a joke she made on Twitter. She posted a photo of herself seemingly engulfed by flames, just like her character Princess Shireen Baratheon in the show. The scene was one of the most controversial scenes in the show’s fifth season, and many fans did not take well to the joke.

　　“Oh ffs not again…” tweeted Ingram along with the photo. She is seen sporting a horrified look on her face as she stands behind raging flames. The photo is an obvious reference to the way Princess Shireen was burned alive in the most recent season of the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones.”

　　The actress quickly posted an apology after receiving brickbats from several fans. She said:

　　Sorry guys, I'm at a BBQ with friends and family and couldn't help it. Just my sense of humour so sorry if you thought it was too soon_ #lol

　　While there was some negative feedback, many fans also commended Ingram and thought that the photo was funny. “ lol just watched the episode yesterday and my stommick(sic) turned and almost threw up when that happened. this is funny though :),” said user Tuvix Hosting.

　　This isn’t the first time that the actress posted a reference to her death scene on social media. She earlier shared a photo, which shows a clever mashup of “Game of Thrones” and “The Hunger Games.” In the photo, Princess Shireen’s face has been photoshopped into the movie poster for the second installment of “The Hunger Games” movies. She takes the place of the movie’s protagonist Katniss Everdeen and is seen holding up a bow and arrow with flames raging behind her. Incidentally, the movie’s full title is “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Katniss is also called “Girl on Fire” in “The Hunger Games” movie series.

　　Even though Princess Shireen’s death was slightly overshadowed by the massive uproar following the death of another well-loved character, Jon Snow, it was still one of the most controversial scenes in Season 5.

　　The series has been under constant fire for frequently depicting violence against women and children. On the popular fan site A Forum of Ice and Fire, many fans have questioned the necessity of including the horrific scene in the series since things didn’t happen that way in the books.
