面对霍顿这一番操作，孙杨在新闻发布会上直接正面回应：“我知道有很多人不喜欢我，但是我的这些金牌是对他们最好的回击。你可以对我有意见，但颁奖是非常神圣的，因为运动员代表着国家。你有千万个不愿意，但你站上领奖台的时候，就是要对中国尊重。你可以不尊重我，但是你必须尊重中国。”
