Lesson 67 The weekend 周末
Mrs. Johnson: Hello. Were you at the butcher’s?
Mrs. Williams: Yes, I was. Were you at the butcher’s too?
Mrs. Johnson: No, I wasn’t. I was at the greengrocer’s. How’s Jimmy today?
Mrs. Williams: He’s very well, thank you.
Mrs. Johnson: Was he absent from school last week?
Mrs. Williams:Yes, he was. He was absent on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
How are you all keeping?
Mrs. Johnson: Very well, thank you. We are going to spend three days in the country.
We are going to stay at my mother’s for the weekend.
Mrs. Williams: Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the country! Aren’t you lucky!
课文介绍：同学们，从67课开始我们要接触到过去时的概念了，描述过去发生的工作或者状态。这里提醒一下同学们一定要养成一个习惯就是，动词要根据时态进行变化哦~ 不多说我们来总结一些文中比较重要的知识点：
Were you at the butcher’s? ... I was at the greengrocer’s
at the butcher’s = at the butcher’s shop 在肉店
at the greengrocer’s = at the greengrocer’s shop 在蔬菜水果店
在英文表示某个店，公共机构，或者是某人家的短语中，往往这个后面的名词可以省略掉，直接说 the xxx’s 即可
除了文中的例子，类似的还有：
at the stationer’s 在文具店
at the doctor’s 在诊所
at my mother’s 在我妈妈家
at Saint Paul’s 在圣保罗教堂
How are you all keeping? 你好吗?
这个短语是一个打招呼的用语，用于询问对方身体状况
例句：How is your mother all keeping? 您母亲(身体)还好吗?
Very well. Thank you. 很好，谢谢
打招呼，除了How are you? ，又学到了 How are you all keeping?

一般过去时
过去时很好理解，就是过去发生的动作和状态;
(这一课只讲be动词的变化，后面的课程会有实义动词的过去式变化)
(be)动词 的变化：
比如 我们要去描述，改革开放前的深圳：
它(曾经)是个村。 It was a countryside.
或者描述一下：曾经非主流的自己：
我们(当时)16岁。 We were 16 years old.
这里我要说一个点，这是我碰到的很多学生在口语表达中纠结的点
同学们在讲自己昨天怎么样，很好说，I was ... yesterday. 有个yesterday这个时间词，知道自己要用过去式;或者说几年前怎么样， A few years ago, ... 也知道自己要用过去式
However, 有部分同学在描述自己曾经怎么怎么样的时候(可能不是很确定当时的时间)，就会碰到了一个卡壳，就是这个“曾经”怎么翻译?这其实就是英语中非常巧妙的一个地方，英文体现“曾经”就体现在动词上，动词的变化反映了所描述的时态：
I was 16 years old. (曾经16岁) I am 26 years old. (现在26岁)
We were at the butcher’s. (过去在肉店) We are at the butcher’s. (现在在肉店)
I was reading a book. (过去在看书) I am reading a book. (现在正在看书)
体会到了这个巧妙的点吗?有时候即使没有像yesterday, a few years ago那样的时间词，通过句子的动词，我们也能清楚地了解这个对方想表达的时间状态。
所以不要再纠结了，多说多练，养成习惯
