　　Chill-out music (sometimes also chill out, or simply chill) is a genre of electronic music and an umbrella term for several styles of electronic music characterized by their mellow style and mid-tempo beats—"chill" being derived from a slang injunction to "relax".Chill-out music emerged in the early and mid-1990s in "chill rooms" at dance clubs, where relaxing music was played to allow dancers a chance to "chill out" from the more emphatic and fast-tempo music played on the main dance floor.

　　电子音乐种类的一种(有时也作chill out或简化为chill)。它是对以柔和轻快的节奏风格为主要特色的几种电子音乐风格的一个概括性总结——"chill" 来自于一句俚语组合“放松”。Chill-out音乐起源于1990年代，在舞池旁边,常会有一个区域,或是小房间,里头会放一些较缓和,较平静的音乐,让舞客跳完舞后从刚刚剧烈的快节奏的舞池音乐中解放出来，缓和情绪,休息一下。
